I have just purchased a sears craftsman mts 5500. I compared it against a couple of different John Deere mowers. I believe that the competitors have caught up with JD. Yet the JD’s are still more expensive. I am wondering if people spending extra money for actual quality, perceived quality, or just simply the JD paint?
Just green paint, a brand name and higher prices. My Bolens mower I got from Lowes has the same engine as the John Deere they sell. While some of the mulching decks and other accessories add to the price, JD is no better than any of the others, when I used to sell mowers, JD was just getting into mass residential use (starting with Sears). I had more service calls on the JD mowers, and since I had to do some of the assembly, will tell you that there is not a lot of difference overall. Buy the mower you like, with the features you want, and go for the best price. The high end machines just cost more money and more to maintain.

My wife and I are having a disagreement about toys to get kids this Christmas. Before her and I got together she was used to buying her 2 boys the metal replicas of John Deere tractors and such for them to play with. But at $25 a piece and up I think that is way to much to spend on one toy. I believe that they are for collectors and for the people that use them in models and display scale models. She says that the plastic John Deere toys tear up and get broken too easily. What are your thoughts?
Well, I have collected quite a few of them over the years and I think could be either or… it depends on how old the boys are. I think they are for the most part, better for collecting, but if you look around at Walmart, they do make matchbox like John Deere toys that would probably be more suitable for playing with than a typical die cast collectible.

how do you turn on a john deere lawn tractor?
i have a ride on john deere lawn mower. ive used it before and i know how to actually cut the grass, but when i turn the key it just makes a clicking sound, it wont turn on. any tips on how to make it work?
the gas tank is full, and the battery had a yellow light and the two other pictures had red lights over them? i have no idea what they mean
you have to hold the brake down then turn the key at the same time. if you need to push the trottle up. the brake is the long peddle on your right and throttle is next to the steering wheel on the left. Good luck
How much do you think my John deere tractor is worth?
I have a 100 series john deere tractor. I’m not sure the year but it is definitely newer. I want to sell it to maybe a mower mechanic because our dog chewed all the wires out of it. It is a beautiful riding mower. It ran great until our dog did that. I just need some peoples opinions on how much I would be able to sell it for. It is very new and in great shape.
Your local John Deere dealer would be the best place to start. Once in awhile a dealer will have customers looking for a specific piece of equipment.
It would be worth more in operating condition.
