Bleach – Choose Your Destiny

Posted on May 19th, 2010 by admin in pick your own blueberries | 25 Comments »

I realize Mortal Kombat might seem kind of cliche, but you’d be surprised how few there are, even fewer using the “Choose Your Destiny” theme.
I matched the characters based on either appearance, role, or both. I read the profiles of each of the characters in Mortal Kombat to make the most effective match-ups. After this video, I decided that Wikipedia is my best friend.

Ichigo-Liu Kang — Underdog hero characters. They start out knowing nothing of themselves or their destiny, yet by the end they have grown. This change started with one singular event for both characters, who both go after someone who has taken someone they believed they must protect (Ichigo-Rukia, Liu Kang-Liu Kang’s brother-Shang Tsung). The catch with that whole protection thing is that they realize that the act of protecting wasn’t the only goal, that some change needs to happen.

Kuukaku-Sonya — Bad in-your-face women that you just don’t mess with. They both have a vendetta that needs to be settled (Sonya’s partner and Kuukaku’s brother Kaien).

Kenpachi-Jax — Both overpowering bad characters. On top of that they both got pride, a kind of integrity, and they can be counted on to do exactly what you think they will… kick ass.

Yoruichi-Kitana — Kitana is mysterious and when you see her in the movie, stealthy and so quick that even demons have a hard time keeping track of her. They are both princesses who commanded formidable powers and they both fell from grace for periods lasting a century or more, then make their return to their homes with a team of warriors that they helped prepare.

Soi Fon-Jade — Jade was the subordinate and friend of Kitana before the storyline of MK, same with Yoruichi and Soi Fon in Bleach.

Hitsugaya-Sub-zero — Ice men, nuff said.

Genryusai-Scorpion — I was torn between Genryusai and Ichimaru on this role. I went with Genryusai because both Genryusai and Scorpion are ageless and they use fire, along with their being extremely deadly. They’re both ageless, Scorpion is essentially immortal (though already technically dead). If we learned more of Genryusai’s past the choice between Gin and he might have been easier, but it was either pick one or flip a coin.

Kurotsuchi-Cyrax — Both cyborg-like, both have either forgotten or abandoned their humane sides of existence, both are ruthless. They kill/hunt their own kind. Kurotsuchi blows up his own soldiers and Cyrax hunts Sub-Zero, who was his kinsmen (both were of the Lin Kuei clan during life, similarly Kurotsuchi killed a handful of shinigami). And the yellow they wear is noticeable.

Renji-Smoke — I know a lot of people won’t be happy with this. I thought Zangetsu by appearance, but dismissed him immediately because of role. Zangetsu is nothing like Smoke. He may fight Ichigo, but that was to help Ichigo. Helping Ichigo wasn’t born from coming back to knowing his lost humanity, but rather from a companionship and duty that was already there and not once forgotten.
Renji enters the series of Bleach as kind of heartless when we clearly see that he knows Rukia (we find out later how close they were before Bleach), yet hunts her down to either kill her or seriously maim her before dragging her back to Soul Society. We see Renji change, recalling his past, coming back to “humanity.” This same thing happened to Smoke, who was turned into a cyborg, humanity erased, assigned to ruthlessly and tirelessly hunt a friend, then Smoke recalled his human memories and became a kind of hero instead of a ruthless villain. Smoke and Renji are a near perfect match.

Aizen-Sheeva — Both deadly, both bad guys, both very very ambitious. Aizen cripples many people, Sheeva kills Motaro. Case closed. Both, by the end of the anime storyline thusfar, become god-like by slaying others to forcibly get to that position (Sheeva killed Blaze, Aizen greatly maimed a half-dozen Death Gods). Both used others by influencing them with what they want (i.e. Tousen and justice, Kano and freedom from Shao Khan’s prison cell). And, finally, they both faked their deaths. Aizen was spitted by Gin, Sheevah impaled by Shao Khan’s blade (or so it seemed at those times). Both evil characters achieved god-like-hood-ness after their fake deaths.

Byakuya-Motaro — Both are harmed by Aizen/Sheeva after a treachery had been performed. But the main reason was the hair. I dunno why, but it just seems to fit and I couldn’t resist no matter how hard I tried… besides, I don’t think any character matched Motaro quite as well as the other characters matched the other associations in this video during the Soul Society Arc anyway ^_^;;

I kept subtitles to a minimum. Keeping that policy cost me a lot of awesome clips. Let me know what you think ^_^

If you really like Bleach and you really like roleplaying, why not combine the two? Go ahead and register if you want.

My daughter wants a blueberry picking party for her 6th birthday. Anyone have some creative ideas?

Posted on May 13th, 2010 by admin in pick your own blueberries | 4 Comments »

The party will be outdoors at a pick your own farm so decorations will be limited. I need ideas for invitations, food, games, goody bags, etc. Thanks!

For favors, how about putting the dry ingredients for a blueberry pie, tart, or muffin into a zip-lock, with the recipe and directions attached. This way they can use the blueberries they pick to go along with it. Make invitations on the computer. I’m sure you could download some pictures of blueberries to decorate it and keep with the theme. For food, how about ordering pizza and having it delivered there. Also have bowls of chips out. As far as games, maybe bring a radio and play freeze dance.
Have fun!

berry picking in north Georgia?

Posted on May 8th, 2010 by admin in pick your own blueberries | 4 Comments »

I’m looking for places in north Georgia where you can pick your own fruit (blueberries, peaches, strawberries, etc.) I called Berry Patch Farms and they aren’t having any blueberry picking this year because of the freeze. Are there any places where you can pick your own fruit?

You can pick all kinds of berries at Washington Farms in Watkinsville, GA. www.washingtonfarms.net

mmmm blueberries!!!!?

Took the kiddos to the "pick your own" blueberry farm this weekend, came home with about 10 lbs of farm fresh organic plump ripe blueberries.

Aren’t you jealous?
Oh, by the way, I’m putting them in some fresh pancakes with real maple syrup. Then of course some sausage links and a glass of skim milk to go along with them.

No because I don’t like blueberries…………..now, if you said strawberries or raspberries, yes, I’d be jealous but on the other hand I’m very happy for you! :) )

looking for info on a certain blueberry farm in new jersey.?

Posted on May 5th, 2010 by admin in pick your own blueberries | 2 Comments »

it’s a place where u can pick your own blueberries. all i can remember is the name was like coty farms or something like that. any info like a phone number or directions would be great.

On Pleasant Mills Road off of Rt 30 in Hammonton, there is one named Coty or Cody blueberry farm where you can pick your own. I don’t have their phone number but it’s very easy to get to but I don’t know which way your coming from to give you exact directions but they are less then a mile off of the White Horse Pike (rt 30) on the right side.
